Pay-per-click advertising, or PPC, is a type of online advertising in which advertisers pay to display ads for their goods or services. When people perform a search online, ads which are relevant to their search queries appear in the search results. The advertisers only have to pay when a user actually clicks on their ad (hence the name “pay-per-click”). You’ve probably noticed the advertisements that appear alongside or at the top of search results in search engines like Google and Bing. This is PPC.
